Update on events – COVID-19
Events with more than 50 people are prohibited by Gov. Jay Inslee. All gatherings under 50 participants are prohibited unless previously announced criteria for public health and social distancing are met.
A decision about the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ 2020 commencement ceremony, scheduled for May 9, will be made closer to the event date.
Event organizers may use Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ approved draft messaging (see below) when drafting their messages for updates on events, however, all MUST be approved through Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ marketing and communication before sending out. Slight adjustment to messaging may be made, as per conditions/issues concerning your event. Those messages should be sent to the Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ marketing office (send an email to maegan_murray@wsu.edu) for wording approval. There may be a slow wait for response, but Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ marketing WILL get back to you as soon as possible.
Draft messaging - Event cancellation
In light of recent developments pertaining to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and to best protect our campus and regional community, Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ has made the difficult decision to (cancel/postpone) the upcoming ____EVENT_____.
This was certainly not an easy decision, and we apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. But we look forward to working with ___COMPANY/ORGANIZATION___Â in the near future.
For Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ, this has been considered the best approach for the safety and well-being of our community at this time.
Most Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ resources remain available online and departments are operational virtually. Individuals at Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ are available via email and/or phone.

Draft messaging - If events are NOT canceled
Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ is actively monitoring the incidence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our region. We have been asked how COVID-19 may impact upcoming events, including ____EVENT____. WSU is following guidance from local health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings, including  on preventing the spread of COVID-19.
At this time, our upcoming ____EVENT____ will take place as planned. However, if you are sick or feeling you are getting sick, we ask that you please stay home. Currently, older adults and persons with underlying health conditions are considered to be at increased risk of severe illness and complications from COVID-19. Examples of underlying health conditions include heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, people with weakened immune systems, and people who are pregnant. The CDC recommends that people in high-risk groups consult with their healthcare provider about attending any large gathering.
If you do choose to attend ____EVENT_____, please keep in mind the CDC recommendations on how to keep yourself and others healthy:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
